Firefly Logic Selected as Microsoft BizSpark Network Partner

NASHVILLE - (February 17, 2009) -  Nashville software development company Firefly Logic  was recently selected to participate in a new Microsoft program designed to help accelerate the success of startups by linking them with established companies. As a Microsoft BizSpark network partner, Firefly Logic will help connect early-stage startup technology companies with services, software and visibility and mentor them as they build their business. Soon after receiving the BizSpark network partner designation, Firefly Logic referred Nashville startup Cell Journalist for the program.

"We're so excited about becoming a BizSpark network partner and to already have Cell Journalist enrolled in the program," said Ben Henderson, partner and senior software engineer for Firefly Logic. "At a time when resources are limited to entrepreneurs, Microsoft found a new way around those obstacles."

Cell Journalist is a social media platform provider serving television, radio stations and newspapers that started in Nashville in 2007.

"Being part of the BizSpark program is an amazing and well-timed opportunity," said Cell Journalist co-founder Colin Polidor. "We've been pleased with our progress since our business launched, but the BizSpark relationship can push us forward in new ways - and with minimal investment. We continually seek creative ways to network and learn, so it's a win-win for us."

Through their relationship with BizSpark network partner Firefly Logic, qualifying local startups like Cell Journalist can receive an abundance of resources as they build their business:

  • Software including full-featured Microsoft development tools, platform technologies, and production licenses of server products.
  • Support from global network partners including incubators, investors, advisors, government agencies and hosters.
  • Visibility among potential investors, clients and partners around the globe.

To be eligible for the Microsoft BizSpark Program, startups must be actively engaged in development of a software-based product or service that is a core piece of their business model, have been in business for less than three years, and have less than USD$1M in revenue. Startups may enroll for the program by obtaining sponsorship from a designated BizSpark network partner like Firefly Logic.

"While we're helping other businesses start strong, being a BizSpark network partner is also a great boost for Firefly Logic," Henderson said. "It allows us to stay connected with entrepreneurs and technology wizzes in Nashville, which is a priority for us. We've always enjoyed networking and collaboration because it keeps us sharp and makes work more fun. I'm looking forward to seeing where the BizSpark project takes us."
